While we were pursuing our Art Education degrees from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, we found ourselves in Art History and Art Appreciation classes together. Squeezed between the history of the Egyptians and Mesopotamians we briefly covered the ancient Agean and saw a blurry slide or two of some fresco art. At the time we had no idea that someday we would revisit those images from a much different perspective.
As classmates we teamed up on studio projects as well. Our partnership naturally evolved into a marriage and parallel careers. We’ve been working together as a professional creative design team ever since. For years, we operated a graphic design and production studio called “The Designers’ Pad”. Our interest in architecture and interior design grew while we were designing and building our Kempton, Pennsylvania home. Our business eventually evolved into an award winning Decorative Painting business called “Bon Fauxnique”.
In 2010 our travels took us to the Greek islands where we explored the ancient ruins of Knossos and visited the Thera Museum on the isle of Santorini, home of the Minoan Frescoes. Reminiscent sparks flew when we saw the amazing art. Our once unfocused attitude from our college years has now become a passion: a culmination of all our artistic experiences in fine and decorative arts and a reborn inspiration of the ancient cultures of Greece, Egypt, and Rome and other ancient civilizations.
Using our extensive art background and our experience in a multitude of materials we developed replicas of convincing quality. The research and experimentation invested in this project led us to launch Ancient Artifice.
In 2018 we moved our home and studio out West to Prescott Valley, Arizona and after almost a one year hiatus and transition we are rededicating our purpose with even better techniques and materials.
